I’ve created a bunch of Here is a simple guide on how to customize those editable classroom resources. This is super easy to do, and it only takes a few minutes from start to finish.
Now, I can’t speak for all classroom resources everywhere, but this is what works for any editable resources that I have created/sell on my Teachers Pay Teachers Shop.
However, there is one caveat. Not all of my classroom resources in my shop are editable. Before making a purchase from my shop, make sure you read the title carefully and make sure it says EDITABLE if that’s what you’re looking for.
PowerPoint
First and foremost, you will need to have PowerPoint installed on your computer. PowerPoint is my platform of choice when it comes to creating my editable classroom decorations and resources because it’s user friendly, straight-forward, and basically everyone has access to it.
Edit the Text Boxes
With any of my editable resources, the background colors and elements are not changeable. Because the images are flattened, you cannot change individual elements on the page. You can only edit the text in the Text Boxes. You can, however, insert your own clipart images over the top if you want to add your own flare.
Also feel free to add as many text boxes as you need to get the result you want.
Fonts
The font/fonts that I used when creating the resource will be embedded in the file, making things easy for you because you just have to type out what you want it to say, and that’s it. That way you don’t have to go around searching for or spending money on a font that you probably won’t use more than a couple times.
That being said, you are not tied down to only the fonts I used. You can use any font you like or that you have installed on your computer!

How to Edit your Classroom Resources Using PowerPoint
Step 1: After downloading your product, open the file folder that contains the editable resource you would like to customize. Look for the PowerPoint document titled “Editable (whatever the rest of the title is).”
Step 2: After opening the document in PowerPoint. Select the word “Edit” on the first text box. Then you can replace it with your own words or phrases.
Make sure your the text fits how you want it to on your resource. Adjust the size of the text box as needed.
If the text bleeds onto a second line, I usually like to adjust the line spacing. To do that, with the text box selected, click the line spacing option in the paragraph section of the ribbon.
When the text box opens, change the line spacing from “single” to “exactly”. Adjust the number as needed.
You can change the font/font size to fit the space and your style. Remember, you can use any font you have installed in your computer.
Step 3: Look back through everything to make sure it is all to your liking. If it is, go ahead and save and print your finished product!
